About Ed
Kear

A talented writer, director, and comedian from Bristol who's carving out his own path in the entertainment world. Having already appeared in blockbuster movies including The Batman (2022), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), Cruella (2021), and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), Bristol-born writer, director, and comedian Ed Kear is one of the most celebrated breakout stars in comedy.

In 2022, Ed made his West End debut as ‘Davey’ in the critically acclaimed Jez Butterworth play Jerusalem, performing alongside Oscar winner Mark Rylance. On screen, he has amassed millions of views with his web series and comedy sketches and is a regular on British television programs such as Ghosts (BBC).

After graduating, Ed threw himself into the industry-working behind the camera on low-budget indie films and learning the craft from the ground up. At the same time, he began writing and directing his own projects, producing comedy sketches, short films, and music videos. His web series Blowing the Budget earned recognition from both Raindance and Variety, and in 2015, Ed landed his first major TV acting break in BBC3’s Crims.

Now, a decade later, Ed is a regular on TV and in film, appearing in shows like Here We Go (BBC1), Star Wars: The Acolyte (Disney+), Slow Horses (Apple TV), and Ghosts (BBC/CBS). His film credits include major Hollywood blockbusters and independent films, such as the upcoming boxing drama The Cut-which premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, with Ed in attendance.

Building on his on-screen success, Ed ventured into stand-up in 2019. He is now a regular on the comedy circuit, performing at some of the biggest clubs in the country most weekends, developing material for a future one-man show, and making his TV stand-up debut on The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV) in 2024.

Ed also directs as one half of the duo Rude Guests with long-time collaborator Cringo Williamson. Together, they have co-written and directed sitcom pilots, short films, and adverts. Their controversial short film Hello David—a drama exploring the fallout from online abuse and racism - was released on Omeleto in 2023, quickly gaining millions of views and sparking widespread debate before being removed due to its hard-hitting visuals. Another short, Just Be Awesome, won Best Comedy at the BAFTA-qualifying Bolton Film Festival in 2024.

Most recently, Ed and Cringo are in post-production for their debut feature film Go Away, starring Michael Socha, Ella Bruccoleri, and Hugh Bonneville, set for worldwide release in 2026.

With numerous exciting projects in the pipeline, Rude Guests are on a mission to push boundaries and create bold, unforgettable stories, always with larger-than-life characters at the forefront.
